Florida Snowpocalypse 2014

Okay so it wasn't snow as much as it was ice. They pretty much shut everything down down here which kept everyone off the roads. I thought they handled it really well, even though I thought at the beginning it went a little overboard. But it was just like home, we got a lot of rain and then sleet and it all froze making for a very icy situation. Base was shut down for several days. We ventured out to get milk and bread (and eggs and 'beverages'). We stayed in the house and had family time and it was nice.

Our little snowbunny. So glad he was able to wear this outfit a couple times (even in Florida!)

Our Sago Palm in the front yard at about 4pm on the Tuesday when it started to sleet and ice over. A little sagging but doing pretty good.

The next day it was very sad:

I don't know if it's going to fully rebound. Several of the palms are dying off, browning. We had some hard freezes back in late Dec. early January that killed off some tropical plants in our back yard.

This is a tree right out front. I thought the way the ice came off the leaves was super cool. It 'dripped' off the leaves, but went 'backwards':

Well, all in all we survived and ate vegetable soup and watched TV. And, just like home, within a day it was gone and by that weekend it was around 65 degrees and sunny. The ice came in on a Tuesday, melted Thursday, and we had the doors open on Saturday.
